Year 6 Residential is back for Harpenden Academy
Posted on 20/06/2022The sun was shining all week and what a glorious week it was for our children. We had seen our lovely Year 6 children enjoy their residential trip to Norfolk Lakes and participate in a range of exciting activities.
Year 6 started their week with a delicious picnic and a play in Thetford Forest as they made their way to Norfolk - the photos show the pure joy that the children felt embarking on their journey. There was no hanging around upon arrival as the children went straight into their first group activity. They rotated through different activities such as fencing, paddle boarding, raft building and I hear that no one came back dry from the afternoon events! The fun continued throughout the week with further activities such as kayaking, sailing and the low ropes. The rock climbing and crate stacking saw a few children facing their fear of heights, but as always our children rose to the challenge. Other activities this week have included orienteering, volleyball, rifle shooting, caving and even a blind trail which focused on showing trust and support for one another - apparently there was lots of laughing to be heard during this event. The photos of the children sailing into the sunset on a giant canoe are just beautiful and really capture the essence of their trip away. As always, the food has also been a highlight and there are many photos of the children munching away at all hours of the day; our early risers were even greeted with a hot chocolate treat to start their day.
Thank you to all the staff for enabling these treasured memories to be created for our children, we truly appreciate all the hard work and dedication you show our children day-in and day-out. Thank you also to Duncan Rose who supported the trip during the first half of the week.
