Celebration of World Book Day
Posted on 13/03/2023At Priory Academy, we feel passionately about the importance of reading and what better day to celebrate than World Book Day. We had a range of events taking place throughout the day including: a dress up competition for our Year 5s and 6s, Zoom Football Book quiz with other schools across the country, a writing competition (because excellent readers make excellent writers). For our Years 7, 8 and 9 students, we dedicated time in our lessons to a book review competition. Students read the opening chapter of four fantastic newly-published books and took the opportunity to review them for our Key Stage 3 competition with the overall winners winning a copy of all the books they had reviewed and runners up winning a copy of their favourite reviewed book. Years 10 and 11 students enjoyed subject-reading opportunities linked with their GCSE curriculum in lessons.
Our students and staff had a fantastic day and it was wonderful to see our school community come together with a shared love of reading.
