Epping Forest
Posted on 20/03/2023Year 11 Geographers from Samuel Ryder Academy enjoyed a wet, but inspiring trip to Epping Forest last week to explore the changing characteristics of a river. Fieldtrips are a compulsory part of the Geography GCSE and as one student said the trip “..made it much easier to understand more of what we learnt in school”. The students all braved the cold and wet to measure river width, depth and velocity and to see how rivers change in practice.
Other student comments:
“I had no idea how much fun it could be to stand in a river and occasionally splash hints of mud on my friends”
“Was great fun, there wasn’t a moment where we weren’t laughing and having a good time. I learnt a lot and this experience helped me understand our fieldwork more.”
“It was an engaging and immersive experience that will help me better understand and enhance my previous knowledge of rivers”.
