MFL Week
Posted on 06/11/2023It was been a wonderful week celebrating MFL Week throughout the entire Samuel Ryder Academy school.
Our Year 3 and Year 4 children enjoyed a fantastic production from the Freshwater Theatre Company who told stories in a modern foreign language. This will have enhanced the children's experiences of French by bringing to life two traditional tales. We hope that the children will have thoroughly benefited from this interactive session, developing listening and speaking skills whilst increasing their confidence in French.
It was then the turn of our Year 8 students who took part in an engaging theatre workshop, where they had the opportunity to work with a performer and take on some of the main roles and create scenes from ‘Les Trois Mousquetaires’ (The Three Musketeers). It was an excellent opportunity for students to practice their French speaking skills and, in particular, boost their confidence in speaking in front of other people.
We are really fortunate that the PTA kindly agreed to fund these events and we thank the Freshwater Theatre Company for such an engaging workshop and providing the Primary children with a WOW day experience.
Primary embraced the week with a Flags of the World colouring session, a language hunt in the playground, a Build the Eiffel Tower session, and a poster competition as well as a French breakfast, book club and film! They also explored a different language each morning for their morning task to celebrate MFL Week.
