Poetry Competition Winners
Posted on 20/11/2023Congratulations to Poppy G, Esha T and Florence D for their excellent poems on the theme of ‘Refuge’. Thank you to all the students who entered the competition this year. The judges were impressed with the expressive and creative poems produced by students. Each poem had a different interpretation of the theme and we all enjoyed reading every entry. Congratulations to each of our winners, who have each received an Amazon voucher and will be published in the ‘Student Showcase’ anthology.
First Place - Florence D
HOME
Home isn’t a place,
Home isn’t a house,
Home is a feeling.
The feeling of belonging could be taken and given.
Bombs,
Bombs can take homes from people,
Both physical and mental homes.
The feeling of home is being surrounded by people who love and care for you,
The place of home is safe and danger-less.
Home is a place to be safe to express yourself,
Home is not a place to be ashamed of yourself,
No place is.
At home, smiles dance and beam onto you.
At home, you should be comforted and relaxed.
No one should take that from home.
Home is what you desire it to be,
It can’t be revoked or stolen in most ways.
Home is where your heart is,
So stay with it.
