Careers Fair, Highfield School

On 16th January The Highfield School hosted their annual careers fair with over 20 companies and providers in attendance. The school was supported by Altro Flooring/Autoglym, ASK Apprenticeships, Computacentre, DSL Ltd, East of England Ambulance Service, Garden House Hospice, Hertfordshire Constabulary (Police), Hertfordshire County Council, MBDA, North Herts College, North Herts Council, RAF, Services for Young People, University of Hertfordshire and The Bedford College (incl Shuttleworth College). The school also welcomed new exhibitors for this year: GSK, Stageworks Studios, Sky Studios Elstree, Settle, Tesco, Surrey University and West Essex Health and Care Academy.
It was wonderful to welcome back Katie, a former student from The Highfield School, who is now doing an apprenticeship with MBDA.
Students in Years 9-13 had the opportunity to speak with exhibitors and ask lots of questions and explore the various career opportunities. They completed a booklet which challenged them to speak to five different exhibitors and there were competitions and lots of enticing freebies for those who engaged with the visitors. In order to give them an early introduction to career decisions and options, students in Years 7 and 8 were also invited to speak to the exhibitors during lunch time.
The feedback from both exhibitors and students has been very positive with pleasing comments about the wonderful engagement from students.
