Local MP Visits The Hemel Hempstead School

David Taylor, Dacorum’s newly elected Labour Member of Parliament, made his second visit to a Scholars' school, visiting The Hemel Hempstead School on the morning of Friday 11th October, for a 2-hour question and answer session. Mr Taylor answered questions set by Sixth Form Politics and Sociology, and Year 11 Citizenship students, covering on a range of subject of both local, national and international importance.

The visit was planned by the schools Citizenship, Politics and Sociology Departments to support the school’s curriculum and added to our Eco Schools global citizenship programme. The topics covered range from what skills you might need to get in to politics, the need for infrastructure investment alongside new homes and increased population, including a new “hospital” for Hemel Hempstead, the effect of cutting the pensioners heating allowance for those not on pension credits, immigration, electoral reform and the availability and affordability of new homes in the area for younger people.
