Sky Sports News film at Samuel Ryder Academy, ahead of the Ryder Cup!

Posted on 24/09/2018

Samual Ryder Academy had an exciting day. with the impending start of the Ryder Cup in Paris this week, Sky Sports News sent a reporter and cameraman in to SRA to gather some footage for their Ryder Cup reporting.

The Year 5 pupils in St Andrews class did the school proud as they told the camera crew about Samuel Ryder's many achievements: Mayor of St Albans, an innovative entrepreneur, philanthropist and of course - what he is arguably most famous for - the creation of the Ryder Cup, which began at Verulam Golf Course, just down the road. It was wonderful to hear from Daniel who eloquently told the reporter that his grandfather had even held the Cup itself!

Following this, the crew were able to gain footage of our secondary students having a coaching lesson from the Head Pro at Verulam Golf club and again talking very passionately about the school's link to the famous cup and sport.
