Camps Kenya International Residential

Posted on 09/09/2024

This summer, some of our Year 10 to Year 12 students from Samuel Ryder Academy travelled to Nairobi and made the long journey to reach Camp Tsavo for the Camps Kenya International Residential.

Their 4 week adventure took them to various camps as well as The Wildlife Foundation.

One of our Year 12 students, Ellie B, summarised their experience: “Going to Kenya was a once in a lifetime opportunity. We all had the most incredible experiences and created unforgettable memories with each other. My favourite part was helping out at the School, interacting with the children and just seeing how happy they were, they sang a welcome to Kenya song in their assembly to us. There was a range of activities we did from an 18m dive, completing our PADI course, to making elephant poo paper with a women’s group. We learnt a lot about their culture which was another highlight of the trip and being able to dance and sing with the workers and the tribes is a great feeling. It allowed all of us to reflect on how lucky we are and push us outside of our comfort zones which has allowed us to grow as individuals."

We are delighted that the students were able to experience such an incredible trip.
