First Ofsted Outcome for Buntingford First School
Posted on 07/07/2026The Trust is delighted to congratulate Buntingford First School on its first Ofsted inspection outcome, which recognised the school's strengths across a number of key areas.
BFS was graded ‘Strong’ in Early Years, Inclusion, Leadership and Governance, and Personal Development and Wellbeing, while achieving the ‘Expected Standard’ in Achievement, Attendance and Behaviour, and Curriculum and Teaching.
The report highlights the caring, inclusive culture that underpins the school community and enables pupils to thrive. Inspectors praised the school's Early Years provision, describing it as “a real strength” and noting that “Children take great joy in playing, talking and learning together.”
Inspectors also recognised the school's commitment to inclusion, stating: “Pupils are happy and safe in this warm, welcoming and inclusive community. Staff take time to get to know pupils’ needs very well. Attentive, caring staff put in effective help and support so pupils thrive and succeed.”
The report commended the school's detailed understanding of its pupils, noting that “The success of the school’s approach to inclusion stems from the detailed knowledge and understanding staff have about pupils’ needs and aspirations.”
BFS's personal development programme was highlighted as a particular strength, with inspectors commenting that “As a result of the highly effective personal development programme, pupils have very secure knowledge about a range of topics including different cultures, sustainability, online safety and conservation.”
The report also recognised the school's positive impact on pupils' character and attitudes, stating that “The impact on pupils can be seen through how they understand difference, treat each other with respect and live by the school’s values.”
Inspectors praised the broad and ambitious curriculum on offer, noting that “The ambitious school curriculum covers a range of subjects, including education for social responsibility. The curriculum builds from a high-quality early years curriculum.”
This successful outcome reflects the dedication of staff, pupils, governors and families, and the Trust is proud to celebrate BFS's achievements and continued commitment to providing an excellent education for every child.
