Students communicate on doctor's orders

Posted on 02/07/2021

On Thursday 24th June 2021, the MFL department at Priory Academy invited 12 students of Year 10 in French and Spanish to a virtual event called "On Doctor's orders" presented by Business Language Champions.

Students represented a team within the World Health Organisation and they were asked to communicate information on healthy eating.

Students had to carry out the following tasks:

  1. Making a phone call to WHO headquarters (answering questions in the target language about a healthy lifestyle)
  2. Writing an article of a minimum of 200 words that would be published in a school magazine or on a website to promote healthy eating
  3. Asking 3 questions in the target language to a foreign "celebrity" of their choice and recording the answers
  4. Making a 2 minute video promoting their topic (in the target language)
  5. Creating a PowerPoint in the Target language on their topic

The year 10 students showed professionalism, creativity, enthusiasm and teamwork! It was great to see them fully engaged trying to meet short deadlines. Hopefully, our students managed to see how languages can help them in a future career in an international industry.
