Priory opens new Science Labs
Posted on 20/01/2022Pupils at a Priory Academy will now benefit from state-of-the-art facilities following the completion of two new science laboratories. Priory Academy is a middle to extended secondary school, in the heart of Dunstable, with 700+ pupils aged between the ages of 9-16. Priory Academy celebrated the opening of its two new labs, which were designed by Barker Associates. The new labs will allow for more effective practical teaching in support of the science curriculum, allowing students to engage their curiosity and enjoyment of science. The build was funded by the school and supported with funding from Scholars’ Education Trust. Work was completed after a 14 week building phase by Envoplan.
Headteacher, Mahnaz Smith welcomed Martin Sidders and Claire Robins to the school and added “We are delighted with these latest additions to our school and we are very proud to be able to offer our young people the very best facilities to thrive in!”
Head Girl, Iona A was delighted “It was an honour to be a part of the ceremonial opening of the new science studios, and to have the opportunity to meet its benefactors. I was proud to stand amongst such marvellous people in a place that will help so many future and current students in their scientific studies.”
Chief Executive Office for Scholars’ Education Trust Claire Robins OBE commended the new facilities: “We are dedicated to constantly improving and investing in our schools in order to provide the very best educational experience for all our young people. “Science is a key area for us so we are delighted to be able to offer the very latest in state of the art science facilities for the pupils at Priory Academy.”
